Vertical Horizontal Filter
Vertical Horizontal Filter or VHF was introduced by Adam White to help indentify the trending and trading markets. Similar to Average Directional Index or ADX, VHF measures the level of the trend. A 28-period is recommended as a default value, although the number of periods may vary to suit the security’s preference.
A rising value of VHF denotes that a trend is forming (i.e. the higher the VHF, the higher the degree of trending) while a falling value of VHF indicates that a trend is ending and is entering a non-trending congestion phase.
